WindEnergy Hamburg, the world's leading trade fair for the wind energy industry, offers a unique platform for discovering the latest developments and innovations. We are a key player in the competition for new sensors for the wind industry, particularly in the area of functional safety up to SIL3 / PLe. These sensors significantly increase the efficiency of wind power generation by providing accurate data and multiple functions in a single device.
As an innovative medium-sized company specializing in safety sensors, we look forward to welcoming you to this year's WindEnergy in Hamburg. The event will take place from September 24-27, 2024, in Hall B6, Booth 560. There is a lot to see. Since the mid-1980s, we have been a leading developer of compact sensors for the wind industry, integrating functions that previously required several larger devices. At WindEnergy, we will present our innovative technologies to an international trade audience and make new contacts. Visitors are invited to experience the products and solutions firsthand.
The family of cam switches has grown impressively. These compact and certified devices offer safe SIL2 or PLd switching contacts and interfaces such as CANopen Safety, IO-Link, SSI and analog. A PROFIsafe version is coming soon. UL® and ATEX approvals are available. Combined with our backlash-free target wheel, these units can accurately detect the position and adjustment speed of rotor blades or the nacelle, triggering safety contacts if limits are exceeded. This mechanism breaks the safety chain to prevent damage such as cable breakage and can also measure rotor speed. Our newly designed rotor hub sensor is also available for rotor speed measurement. Equipped with an accelerometer and gyroscope, this sensor is mounted in the rotating hub without a fixed shaft connection and provides precise and reliable position and speed data via PROFIsafe. It is SIL2 and PLd certified. The latest generation of low-noise gyroscopes enhances the device's accuracy, while specially designed digital filters ensure that interference from oscillations and vibrations does not affect the speed signal.
The PLd-certified vibration sensors, designed to monitor tower, nacelle and gearbox vibrations, can be customized. Precisely tailored filter parameters can be programmed and simulated to match the specific conditions of the wind turbine. The processed vibration data is transmitted to the controller via PROFIsafe. The CANopen safety version allows many features to be parameterized by the customer, with two safety switching outputs that shut down when limit values are exceeded. These values can be defined as instantaneous, RMS or peak with selectable time constants. Additional analog outputs are available.
A special form of the vibration sensor includes a LoRaWan interface. Due to its low power consumption, it can operate on a battery and send processed data to a base station via radio at short intervals. This is particularly useful for monitoring wind turbines during construction, when no power grid is available, to ensure they are not exposed to excessive vibration or oscillation from strong winds.
In addition to these specialized wind power products, we also offer safety encoders with all common industrial interfaces, including pulse output. These encoders are SIL2/PLd or SIL3/PLe certified and available with UL® and ATEX approvals. They can measure positions and speeds for azimuth and pitch with high accuracy using the target wheel mentioned above.
All solutions are characterized by their robustness and longevity, making them ideal for extreme conditions at sea, thanks to resistant stainless steel housings, which can also be magnetically shielded on request. We are happy to work with our customers to develop special solutions.
