We're at LogiMAT 2025: Safe Sensor Solutions for Intralogistics

From March 11 to 13, 2025, LogiMAT in Stuttgart will open its doors. At booth 8C76, sensor specialist We will present innovative sensor solutions, including those for automated guided vehicles (AGVs).

AGVs are considered as a central component of modern intralogistics where processes are becoming more and more automated. The efficiency of AGVs depends largely on precise and reliable sensors. We offer SIL-certified encoders in a compact design that are characterized by high robustness, accuracy and functional safety. They meet the highest safety standards, such as SIL2 / SIL3 and PLd / PLe in accordance with IEC 61508 resp. ISO 13849-1. EX-protected devices (ATEX / IECEx), UL®-certified sensors and ASIL-D-compliant solutions in accordance with ISO 26262 can also be found in the safety specialist's product portfolio.

One of our highlights is the RING encoder, which fulfills two important requirements in a single device: On one hand, very fast data acquisition of position and speed and their output via BISS-C, SSI, SIN/COS, etc. for motor feedback control. On the other hand, additional functionally safe data transmission via PROFIsafe, FSoE or CANopen Safety.  With its diameter of 50 mm to 150 mm and its inductive measuring principle, the device is ideal for mounting on various drive shafts. The RING encoder offers a resolution of 22 bits and is resilient to magnetic interference fields.

Another highlight at the trade fair is the compact Safety KIT encoder with external magnet, which enables space-saving and flexible mounting on rotating drives. It has no shaft bearing and is equipped with a CANopen safety interface and electronic multiturn detection for 32,768 revolutions. With a housing depth of just 20 mm, it is ideal for integration into existing systems - e.g. on motors. The position magnet is fixed on the moving application side and placed opposite the encoder housing without a mechanical connection. The resolution is 16 bits with an accuracy of ±0.2 %/360°. Also, these sensors can be used to precisely measure speeds, as they have a parameterizable speed signal.

Both highlight products meet the SIL2/PLd safety standards. Their robust design with high shock and vibration resistance as well as their simple integration into existing systems make them ideal solutions for demanding applications.

These new products are complemented by established and proven devices in the field of functional safety: the magnetic rotary encoders in the compact 38 and 42 mm design with resolutions of up to 16 bits. In addition, there are the high-resolution encoders up to 22 bits with an excellent accuracy of ±10 arcsec or the SIL3/PLe-CAT4 incremental encoders, which are available as solid or hollow shaft devices - also with a stainless steel housing. Equally interesting and indispensable for high-rack forklift trucks are the new wire rope hoists in compact design with measuring lengths of up to 5 meters. Finally, the new dynamic inclination sensors round off the sensor technology required for intralogistics. They provide safe and reliable inclination values - even in the event of disruptive acceleration caused by vibrations, cornering or changes in speed.

Our wide range of safety sensors with all common industrial interfaces such as CANopen Safety, PROFIsafe, IO-Link or Failsafe over EtherCAT combine high reliability with cost-effectiveness and offer strong advantages for safety-related applications in logistics thanks to their special mechanical and electronic properties.
