SAFE SENSOR SOLUTIONS FOR WIND TURBINES
RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGIES
To reduce the probability of an undetected sensor error, plausibility checks can be performed either in the sensor or in the system control. This enables the use of sensors in safety devices. TWK offers a range of sensors certified in accordance with DIN EIN 13849 (PLd) or IEC 61508 (SIL2) for plausibility checks within the sensor. Alternatively, redundant sensors are typically used if the user prefers to delegate this task to the control system.
Consequently, the demand for sensor technology, such as rotary encoders, has also increased. TWK-ELEKTRONIK has been involved in this development from the beginning. TWK supplied an absolute rotary encoder for Germany's first large wind turbine, the Growian. Since then, TWK has been a key supplier to prominent companies in the wind energy industry.
