DRIVE-BY-WIRE – VEHICLE SYSTEMS OF THE FUTURE
SAFETY ENCODER FOR STEERING, PEDALS AND ACTUATORS
Electronically controlled systems such as drive-by-wire, steer-by-wire or brake-by-wire replace mechanical connections with electrical signal transmission and require maximum precision and safety when detecting position and speed. TWK safety encoders have been developed for precisely these requirements: they work redundantly, can be diagnosed in real time and are certified to EN 61508, ISO 13849 and ISO 26262. They are used, among other things, for steering angle detection, for determining the position of pedals or actuators and for safe speed detection in electric drives.
Due to their compact design, robust mechanics and interfaces such as CANopen Safety, FSoE or PROFIsafe, our encoders integrate seamlessly into safety-related control systems. Whether incremental or absolute, hollow or solid shaft - our sensor solutions can be individually configured and are ideal for applications in autonomous vehicles, mobile machines and robot-assisted systems.
