SIL2 vibration sensor with PROFINET

TWK is extending its safety sensor system range: a further sensor with the PROFIsafe over PROFINET interface is now available: vibration sensor NVT90/S3. Based on a MEMS sensor system, this device measures low-frequency vibrations - particularly in wind turbine towers. Spurious transmission oscillations can also be registered thanks to the frequency range from 0.05 Hz to 60 Hz.

This sensor joins the SIL2 family of sensors: rotary encoders, switching cam encoders and inclinometers. The NVT90 measures accelerations up to +/- 2 g on the horizontal x and y axis and outputs the momentary values and - optionally - processed values such as e.g. RMS mean values or PEAK values via the PROFINET interface. Due to simultaneous transfer of useful data with the respective checksums, communication between the sensor and control system is safe.

One special function is the calculation of a sum value on exceeding set limit values - even over a number of hours. The integrated light emitting diodes facilitate commissioning and diagnosis in the PROFINET bus system. The robust aluminium housing is resistant to harsh environmental conditions and is suitable for offshore use.
